POSH CHOCOLATES DOSE

Bringing you your daily requirement of jaunty pop today is Posh Chocolates. The Manchester three-piece offer up their funky style, which lies somewhere between full-blown indie and synth-led song structures, in their newest single ‘Dose’. They indeed remind us of contemporary pop challengers Havelock and Easy Life, especially within the quirky lyricism that spins those universal questions into a vibrant singalong. Speaking about the influence, Mancunian lyricist and front man Christian Ellery shares that “Dose is born from contemplation about my affliction between addiction, and the conviction of a new love interest. Often I feel love can be the main offender when it comes to provoking feelings of addiction, and seeking a dose of someone to replace urges to endeavour in substance is a profound feeling. I’m always seeking ‘company’, whether it be friendship, love, or just turning to the potion. ‘Hide my shady sauce syndrome,’ states the chorus (sadly, already often misheard as ‘sausage rolls’). The question is, to whom am I picking up the phone?” If you’re digging the sound of ‘Dose’, be sure to track back to the BBC Introducing-endorsed ‘GAUDY’. - Hannah Thacker
